What to Do With All Your Stuff While Remodeling

    Storage

No matter what area of your home you are planning on remodeling, one of the first steps that needs to be done is to clean out the area entirely. The remodeling project will go much more smoothly if everything is out of the way.
Remodeling can make home life quite chaotic. Even though part of your home is being worked on, you will still have to cook, take showers, wash up and do all your other necessary everyday tasks. It is important to have a step by step plan to follow during remodeling

    Making a Plan

If you are remodeling your kitchen you will need to set up a temporary kitchen. If you have a basement or spare room, you can prepare many meals with a slow cooker and a microwave. You may also want to budget for a few extra meals out when things get really hectic. If your bathroom is the room being remodeled and it is your only bathroom, you will need to seek out alternative facilities. You could ask a neighbor if you can use their facilities or you may be able to take a shower at your local gym.

    Sorting out Your Stuff

Now is the time to make some hard decisions. You will need to plan out some time to clean out the space that is being remodeled. As you are cleaning out the space, you may come across things that you have not used in a long time. You may want to consider selling or donating these items. Anything fragile or breakable should be wrapped up in towels or bubble wrap and stored away in a durable container. Boxes of small items may be stored in a spare room or out in the garage.

    Keeping Your Stuff Safe

During a remodeling project, there will be lots of dust and debris from the project. There also may be many people in and out of your house. If you have valuable items, you may want to store them in a locked room or rent a storage unit that will be locked and secure. Electronics and furniture and other items that can be damaged by dust and debris may be safer if they are stored off site in a storage unit where they will stay clean and safe.
If you follow these simple steps, your remodeling project will go much more smoothly and all of your things will stay clean and safe. This will help to ease some of the stress that always accompanies a remodeling project.
