How To Choose The Suitable Colour For Your Bathroom Tiles

Choosing the colour for bathroom tiles is a difficult task from many points of view. First of all, the wide variety of models can make it very complicated. Other than that, there are a lot of factors you must take in consideration. Since this is an investment in the long run, you must make a smart decision from the first attempt. The organization is essential, but do not forget about the latest trends either. Most experts recommend cold colours – grey, green or blue. Therefore, the nuances should be opposite to what you install in the kitchen. However, these rules can always be overrun, especially since your preferences are more important.

    Choosing colours by space
The space is one of the most important things in the process. Dark colours make a small bathroom look even smaller, while the whites ones will visually enlarge the area.

    • Size – The colours are responsible for the visual size of the room. If you have a small sized bathroom, you need some warm and light colours.
    • Light – The same rule applies to the bathrooms that are not naturally illuminated. It is highly recommended to opt for light nuances.
    • Purpose – When the bathroom is an extension of the room, the tiles should be picked according to the theme of the respective room. In some cases, you can opt for neutral nuances.
    • Appliances and furniture – Think about these factors as well. For instance, some domestic appliances with chromed elements bring in a futuristic look. Therefore, the tiles should follow the same theme.

    Choosing colours by style
Another factor to take in consideration is the style or theme you hope to achieve. From this point of view, you have multiple options.

    • Elegant – The tiles must be shiny, with picky insertions – glass, leather or wood. They are not really expensive, yet very good looking. The porcelain is just as useful, but it is more fragile and asks for a lot of care.
    • Rustic – In order to achieve a rustic result, you need earthy colours and nuances, such as beige or brown.
    • Modern – A modern bathroom is supposed to be original. White and red represent a tight combination. The same unique rule applies to how the tiles are positioned. A little planning will bring in a surprising and young result.
    • Classic – Classic home owners are free to rely on any colours, as long as the combinations are simple.

    Combining colours
There are plenty of models and patterns to choose from, not to mention about the tiling possibilities – mosaic, squares, lines, chess tables and so on. When you make basic combinations, do not exaggerate with more than two or three colours. Other than that, it is highly recommended to opt for complementary or contrasting nuances.

Opting for borders is yet another great idea, especially if you want the area to seem larger. However, in order to achieve this effect, you need the borders to be darker than the rest of your tiles.

    Conclusion
All these unwritten rules are very useful in helping you decide. Fortunately, your preferences are more important, so you can always ignore them and move on with your own ideas.
